Definition: Phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables, especially in the colorful skins. Flavonoids are beneficial for your health, because they may work as antioxidants in your body.

This is one reason why you need to eat lots of fruits and vegetables every day. The flavonoid family includes many different compounds, such as flavonols, flavones, isoflavones, catechins and anthocyanidins.
