Question: What do I look for in choosing the most healthy hot cooked cereal?
Answer: When you are at the grocery store, you can look at the Nutrition Fact Food Labels on each of the cereals to compare vitamins, minerals and fiber per serving for each brand. Look for the hot cereal that has the most of these nutrients.

Oatmeal is a great choice for a hot cereal, but if you are looking at flavored oatmeals, you also need to look at which ones have the least amount of sugar and calories. You can always add some walnuts, sliced fruit, or maple syrup to cooked oatmeal for a tasty breakfast without a lot of extra calories.
