Let us know - and, no, you don't have to be an American to share your experiences with weight loss. Share Your Secret

Take it from a diabetic heart patient!

Look at your diet slightly as if you had diabetes and heart disease and just had three stents put in your heart like I did and if your curious Im only 25 thats right young means nothing when you eat the american way or whatever that is supposed to mean. The american way should be more like its supposed to be three portioned meals a day lower in carbs and lower in fats. And people I know you say Ah but Im still hungry after that small portion well learn to eat slower and you'll be fuller I promise. You never no what them sweets and junk foods and dont get me started on fast food the worst of all and most common amongst overweight people until you wake up one day in a hospital ICU and find out you just had major heart surgery and your blood sugar is 386 and now have to stick yourself 4 times a day with insulin shots. You can have meat just choose lean meat like fish or 95% or higher lean ground beef or grilled not fried fatty chicken breat. Vegetables and fruits will always be great th

Secret for Maintaining Correct Weight

It's not a diet, it's a life-style change. First you need to actually commit to NEVER AGAIN eating the things that aren't good for you. To be successful at that you need to study and learn what IS good for you and simply change your diet forever, period. Then start walking at least 5 of every 7 days. Start with a comfortable distance, even if it's only a block. Keep increasing your distance. Keep it fun & interesting. I read a book while I walk. Keep a good attitude. And DON'T EAT BECAUSE YOU ARE BORED!!! When you're bored, find something you like to do and do it, away from the kitchen!

All about your choices

If you are eating a standard American diet (SAD), you are simply eating wrong. Successful weight/metabolism is a product of eating vegetables, fruits and real grains, proper fats such as from olive oils, nuts. You cannot lose weight if you eat what every body else eats: cereal (actually should be called cookies), fast food (enough said), meat, heavy on cheese, processed grains that have lost much of their nutrition. You actually have to have a lifestyle change; you actually have to cook real food. You have to eat the apple you brought to work, rather than the muffins that your co-workers brought, even when you dont want to!!Its hard but then you eat whole foods you begin to think, that 'this apple is delicious ', and slowly begin to start to want to eat that way. I also think its hard to lose weight when you dont do an all or nothing- that is- stop eating the processed junk/sweets because they are not compatable with real food. Good luck and dont give up! Look up Dr Joel Furhman.

Gluten

I have a mild allergy of preservatives, I find eating fresher foods helps me maintain my weight. I also strictly monitor the amount of takeaways my partner and I eat.

may you benifited

Prep yourself and your home for when these cravings arise by taking away temptation. If the sweet treats you crave aren’t on hand, you’ll have an easier time letting the feeling pass.

be active

to loose weight fast you have to eat small meals at short intervals, i dont do this. you dont have to either. because it reduces your lifespan by making your organs work faster. what i do is , i drink a lot of tea, as it reduces apetite, when i eat, i eat only fruits, fat free dairy, fish and multigrain, you also have to be active, that means , screw the computer during the day, it prevents you from being healthy,by not making you sleep at night and also not making you move in the day, also if you like you can drink moderately alcohol, especially wine as it contains good antioxydants , as well as the alcohol prevents your arteries from stiffening, if you do what is wroten here, you may have good chances to live past 100

Need a More Specific Goal

One thing I have learned helps a lot with weight-loss is having a specific end result in mind--not a weight or something abstract like "being healthier." While these are good and needed, the goal I'm talking about is something like what I had the first time I lost much weight. I wanted to be able to go running with my best friend, because she loved it. But I was severely out of shape and had to lose weight as well as build up to being able to go running with someone who went all the time. I did this over the summer while we were apart, and by the end of the summer, not only was I able to go running with her, but I had lost 15 lbs! And as I kept it up, I lost another 25 lbs. Now I have a new goal--look really good at my bro's wedding in October! Aim for something that will make your life emotionally better, too, not just weight-loss. Then, find your next aim, and the next--and let these emotional motives be what you look forward to as you lose and maintain that weight!

Joined my husband-diet and exercise

My husband decided he needed to lose some weight, 45 lbs, so he could run in a half-marathon. He bought the book, MARATHON, by Jeff Galloway, and we began the process, following the plan, counting calories, eating every 2 hours small portions, and walking/aquacise. December 7 we began our process, and today, my husband has lost 45 lbs, and I have lost 20 lbs and went from a size 12 to a size 8. Every two hours, we eat something at about 150-200 calories. I usually begin with yogurt for breakfast, a glass of juice later, a bagel with peanut butter, then a chicken breast with steamed vegetables. Fresh fruit makes a nice snack, and popcorn or mixed nuts work for an evening snack. During the day, a Fiber One bar is a good pick-me-up as well. We also exercise about an hour or more every day. It's been slow but steady, and a lifestyle change...not just an impulsive 2 month change.

Weight Loss

I got tired of sitting on the couch watching MMA and decided to get involved. I began strength training and conditioning last August and lost ten pounds very quickly.By November when I had my first competition, I was stronger than ever and weighed around 185lbs. I lost, but I was not deterred from competing again. I started training earnestly around March 12 or so, and since then I am down to 168lbs. This past weekend I improved my record to 1-1, possibly because I was in better condition than the other guy. While dieting for the fight, I focused on eating more veggies, specifically lettuce, broccoli, and carrots, and eating fewer refined carbohydrates. Breakfast usually consisted of either an egg casserole with green peppers or a small loaf of muffin bread. Because I was trying to lose weight/fat, I was below maintenance calories about 3-4 times a week. Folks need to attack weight loss like an athlete, and not like sheep.

How I lost weight and keep it off

Once I stopped eating food to which I was intolerant (wheat, gluten, dairy and eggs) and stuck to it, I lost over 50 lbs. However, it also means eating a good chunk of protein for breakfast to help keep me from wanting to eat again in an hour or so. I also eat organic as often as possible, too. And I had to cut back on eating too many desserts, and I know you might be thinking I can't eat regular cakes, cookies, bagels, etc. since I have to eat gluten-free -- so it is easy for me. But these days you need to stay away from all the gluten-free cookies, cakes, bagels, etc. because they are making them better and better every day. As is always said, all things in moderation, because I could surely over eat all those gluten-free treats too!

Chia a day

I drink Chia Iskiate aka (Chia Fresca) everyday in the morning, as my breakfast. The nutritional benefits are blogged like crazy, from Dr. Weil to Dr. Oz. I have never felt better. It seems to just make be eat less, yet healthy choices. I have energy, quit coffee and have lost 10 pounds in the last few months. It is not a diet, just a simple change in lifestyle, with no pressure

Only Things That Work for Me

Having tried every diet under the sun, and having a problem with binging when I concentrate on losing, I came across this on my own. Skip dinner. If you are hungry for dinner, eat a bowl of cereal. You can eat the dinner you skipped the previous night for breakfast or lunch. The point is to eat the majority of your calories before 2pm so that your body can burn them off during the day. This has been the only way I have been able to lose. It works just beautifully.

The Inevitable Way to Lose Weight

Greetings, My semi-successful experience with weight loss taught me that the ONLY TRUE way to lose weight is to combine regular exercise with a healthy diet plus patience. I lost 38kg (83.7 pounds) over 2 years by following various exercise programs and various diets. The body gets used to things, I changed my diet and sport every 20 days; not necessarily big changes, but any variation does the trick. I was a success, but when I got relocated for work I couldn't keep the exercise nor the healthy food. I gained back 10kg, I'm trying to lose them back, but I learned that without exercise+healthy diet+patience there can be no true weight loss; especially because I have a slow metabolism. knowledge helped a lot, I searched the net and this wonderful site like a million times, I learned about the human body, muscles, foods, and exercises, that's how I managed to work all those two years like a warrior to lose those 38kg.. now I got my mind set again, I'll do it again, slowly, successfull
