From the article: Zero-Calorie Sweeteners
Artificial sweeteners are used in many low calorie foods and diet soft drinks. Some people love artificial sweeteners because they can satisfy a sweet craving without adding calories, while others believe consuming them causes problems or they just don't like the flavor.
Do you use artificial sweeteners? If so, how do you use them? If you don't like artificial sweeteners, tell us what you do to tame your sweet tooth. What Are Your Thoughts?
Can't stand them!
- I've tried a number of artificial sweetners because my mother is diabetic (type2). I my self consume a lot of sugar but I refuse to use artificial sweetners because they just plain taste gross and yes splenda does have a nasty aftertaste. I've found that a lot of people who I know that drink diet sodas and actually like it is because they have been for years and have become immune to the nasty taste of them. I think I would rather have no sugar than have to use artificial sweetners.

idk
- I use artificial sweeteners, but I agree they may not be safe to consume. But I diet a lot, so every once in a while I need to taste something sweet..and artificial sweetners help me with that.

Artificial Sweeteners
- I've type two diabeties, I do not use any sweeteners. I use only skimmed milk in my tea and coffee. Whenever I drink any type of juices I drink it natural without any kind of sweeteners. I personally think that those sweeteners are not good because it is chemicals we are putting into our bodies which causes complications. Everyone should try not using sweeteners and will get use to it. After a while you feel upset if you do drink anything sweet. Good luck to all!

How much is too much?
- I try to do good in not eating large amounts of sugar. I have diabetes, but due to my dramatic weight loss, I don't ahve to check my blood sugar as often. I love hot tea and I want to get the benefits, but I use seven Spendas per cup, plus lemon juice. How much Splenda is too much?

Splenda is the choice for me
- I never liked the taste of Sweet & Low or Equal. I tried Splenda at my cousin's house and just loved it. Don't understand the concept that it is made from sugar but is an artificial sweetener. I put it in my hot tea and on my cereal, also a little bit over my strawberries. A great alternative for sugar. It does not leave an aftertaste like the other sweeteners.

artificial sweeteners
- I watched a very interesting documentary called Aspartame - Sweet Misery, a poisoned world. This documentary showed interviews from various people that had consumed artificial sweeteners & explained the life threatening complications after consumption, eg Brain Tumors. This documentary is a must see in my opinion.

A resounding NO to artificial
- To be brief, you can do your own 'googling.' My naturopath advised me against all artificial sweeteners, especially Splenda, due to their chemical make up. I am person dx'd with M.S. and since ceasing the intake of Splenda and soda products some of my "M.S." symptoms (like leg tremors) have completely gone away. I have my own personal opinions on my diagnoses which I won't get in to here, but I write this as a heads up. I stood by my Splenda for years b/c I liked it, thought I wasn't getting fat (I LOST weight going off it just like my doctor said I would) and it was cheap. I can't put a price on my body. I look and feel better than ever before. Twenty-eight, M.S. six years. *I use Stevia and Agave. Good luck all!

Try to stay natural
- I use agave mostly. Occasionally, I will use Whey Low because it is the only non-100% natural sweetener that I can stand in hot beverages/dishes. I HATE the taste of artificial sweeteners in hot beverages. Yuck!

Amount of sweetners in daily diet!
- Artificial sweetners are a good way of reducing your daily calories or an easy way for diabetic patients to munch on sweets, although the amount in the daily diet must be taken into account. Too much intake eof artificial sweeteners daily might cause side effects in the future.

Artificial Sweetners helpful
- My husband is a type II diabetic and loves sweets. I use artificial sweeteners to help reduce sugar content in cookies, cakes and deserts. Sometimes you can't tell there is no actual sugar in the product! I love it!
