Why I decided to lose weight
I looked at the mirror and told myself: "I am sick of being fat and called ugly. I am sick to always be seen from women as a brother or a teddy bear. I am sick of being embarrassed at the beach. I am sick of not being able to run the way I used to. I am sick that I don't look at my best. I am sick of looking overweight on every single pictures or videos I am in. I am sick of looking like Shrek!" ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
How I lost the weight.
I registered to LA Fitness on 09/29/09 and told myself there is no turning back. From there, I been going to the gym for 479 days now regularly 5 times a week. Diet is key! Counting your calories to knowing what to when to eat made a huge change in my life.
Staying consistent was also a challenge. Weight loss is a big mental battle as well as physical. I just told myself: "If my mom was diagnosed with CANCER, would I make excuses to not show up at the hospital week in and week out?" NO!
I also told myself: "If my child was kidnapped, would I give up on looking for him/her?" Absolutely NO!
It took a lot of hard work, diet, and time but it was all worth it! Today, I feel younger than ever at 30 years old. You can never change your date of birth but you can definitely change the image in front of the mirror.
Tips and Tricks
- Cut carbs at night.
- Drink your protein shake and eat fast digesting carbs within 30 min of your workout.
- Eat a nice healthy breakfast.
- Don't eat until you're completely full. Instead, eat so that you are not hungry anymore.
- Eat 6-8 small meals a day.
- Drink lots of water!
- Stay focused!
- Learn from mistakes.
- Have an open mind about it.
- Have a cheat meal as a reward. An entire cheat day can lead to major slacking.
- Focus on being healthy and the weight will come off naturally.
