Taking a dietary supplement can help ensure you are getting all the nutrition you need. Especially when your dietary choices aren't the best. Unfortunately, dietary supplements aren't regulated very strongly, so you have to be careful when you choose your supplements.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: N/A
Here's How:
  1. Check with ConsumerLab.com before you shop. ConsumerLab.com has created a data base of dietary supplements that have passed their tests for quality.
  2. Look for the United States Pharmeacopia (USP) seal on dietary supplements. Dietary supplements with this seal on the label have undergone voluntary testing and auditing to ensure quality.
  3. The label should offer some assurance that there are no toxic contaminants in the product. This is very important for fish oil capsules which may be contaminated with mercury and some types of calcium that may be contaminated with lead.
  4. Follow the label directions for taking your dietary supplements unless you have specific instructions from your health care provider.
