Avoid deep-fried french fries. The oil used to deep fry is not healthy, and after the oil has been heated and used repeatedly it goes bad. You can make healthier versions of your favorite deep fried foods. For example, slice potatoes into long strips, put them in a bowl and drizzle some olive oil over them, using just enough oil to lightly coat the potatoes. Spread the potato strips evenly on the bottom of a baking dish and bake in a 350-degree oven until the potatoes are tender. Lightly salt the potatoes and you have a healthier version of French fries. Make the dish more fun by tossing the potato strips with your favorite seasonings added to the oil. You can try rosemary, garlic, or spicy blend that include hot peppers.
