Choose a Recipe

Have your child choose a recipe from a cookbook.

First, I found some cookbooks for Kendyl to look through. The internet is another good source for recipes. In fact, About.com has a whole food channel with great recipes to try. Kendyl looked through this cookbook for recipes she thought would taste good.

Her first choices were different types of sweets, but I decided we should try a different recipe that would be easier to modify into a healthier version. After some further searching, Kendyl found a recipe for Shredded Dried Beef and Onion Dip served with crackers.

This recipe is perfect because it is easy to prepare and has ingredients that my daughter likes, cream cheese and dried beef. Since it isn't really a healthy recipe, we changed the ingredients just a bit.
