Question: Is yogurt bad for arthritis & does it cause weight gain?
Answer: Yogurt is a dairy product and recent research shows that yogurt and other dairy products may actually be beneficial for arthritis sufferers. Yogurt contains beneficial bacteria and is one form of dairy product that many people with lactose intolerance can choose. The beneficial bacterial known as probiotics help keep the bad bacteria, yeasts and molds in the digestive system in check. An overgrowth of bad bacteria and yeast in the digestive system is called dysbiosis and is connected with rheumatoid arthritis.

Eating yogurt alone will not cause you to gain weight. Eating more calories than you need for the amount of activity you have each day will cause you to gain weight. Many experts suggest that we should consume three servings of dairy products each day to get enough calcium for healthy bones. One cup of yogurt is equal to one serving.
