Question: Do sweet potatoes contain any sugar?
Answer: One cup of raw sweet potato cubes contains 27 grams of carbohydrate. Of those 27 grams, about six grams is sugar, four grams is fiber and about 17 grams is starch.

Remember that this information is for plain sweet potatoes. If you choose one cup of sweet potatoes canned in syrup, you will have over 11 grams of sugar because you will be adding five more grams of sugar from the syrup. If those sweet potatoes are included in a recipe with any other sugars, the total grams of sugar will go up even higher.
