Question: Should children have snacks?
My wife and I are questioning how much and how often are 10 year old twins should eat. She feels its necessary for them to have an snack.
I agree but what they eat and how close to dinner and or lunch is my concern. If they have a snack in the mid morning and mid afternoon they seem to have problems finishing their lunch and or dinner.
Isn't three meals a day sufficient? Since when is a snack a requirement?

Answer: Snacks between meals are fine as long as your kids are at a healthy weight and not over-eating. If lunch is at noon and dinner is at six o'clock, then three o'clock in the afternoon would make a nice snack time.

If they are having trouble finishing their meals, give them smaller snacks. An apple or a small bunch of grapes makes a great snack and won't add too many calories.
