Question: How effective are glucosamine sulfate or joint repair capsules?
I'm a sportsperson who has recently had a full knee reconstruction. I've had many other injuries in the past also. My question is how effective are glucosamine sulfate or joint repair capsules and formulas on my ligaments, joints and tendons. Do they work? I have been taking glucosamine sulfate recently in tablets.

Since my injury I have improved my diet a lot more and I am getting more then enough veggies and fruit per day(at least six servings per day). Is there any certain food that can help with my joints or is there food that has higher levels of glucosamine sulfate etc?

Answer: This glucosamine study, named the Glucosamine/chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial, showed that glucosamine and chondroitin supplements were effective for pain relief for people who suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee. Glucosamine and chondroitin may also help to prevent cartilage damage. Glucosamine is not found in foods, however a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables will add phytochemicals that may reduce pain and inflammation, plus vitamin C that is needed for healthy joints.
