Ginger Helps Chemotherapy Patients

Friday May 15, 2009
gingerGinger is more than just flavorful, it helps to calm an upset stomach (and may people swear by ginger as an aid for travel sickness). Ginger can also relieve some of the nausea in cancer patients usually caused by chemotherapy. A recent study at the University of Rochester in New York showed cancer patients who took powdered ginger felt relief from their nausea.

It's important to know that you need real ginger, not ginger-flavoring like what's found in most commercial ginger ale.

Ginger Brew may be one way to get your ginger in an enjoyable way. It’s true that commercial ginger soda usually has no actual ginger in it. However, Reed’s Ginger Brew (www.reedsgingerbrew.com) is made with fresh ginger. It varies from 8 to 26 grams per bottle!

The company put out a press release in response to this study today. It contains more information on the company as well as a video that shows the founder in the brewery explaining how they make their non-alcoholic ginger brews, which come in six flavors.

I work with the company, so I’m partial to their products, which I believe are still the ONLY commercially available sodas that are brewed, and the only ones that use real, whole ginger.

I hope this information is useful!

I read this before and then I saw this about Chemo and I don’t trust that at all since those who have taken it have died and since the media is focused on the child and her mom are against Chemo, the news finally admitted that the chemo kills the good and bad guys and can make you sick and thats why I am commenting here, my friend here is taking it and she asked her MD and he said it would help her and I know it helps my stomach a lot and so I know its better than the cookies which have Ginger in them and lots of sugar. I love these since I can afford them, the pill form of them, they have lots of ginger and I find my stomach feels better much more often and so I encourage this. I am not saying no one should have the chemo, but Thank God I haven’t been asked by a Judge to take it and I take Vitamins for my blood pressure and I am sure glad there is not a judge telling me to quit taking that.
