What Are COOL Labels?

Tuesday March 17, 2009
COOL labelCOOL stands for Country of Origin Label and is now found on many foods sold in grocery stores in the United States, including meats, poultry, fish, some raw nuts and produce. The addition of the COOL label is meant to help consumers know a little bit more about the foods they choose. These new labels state which country the food came from before it made it's way to the grocery store.

This label isn't required on processed foods that have been cooked, cured, smoked or combined with other foods, so you'll won't see the labels on all foods. You won't find the labels on menus at your favorite restaurants, either.

Cool actions like this one only stand to raise the cost of foods, especially imported foods, to greater heights.

I don’t think this will cause the cost of food to rise. They seem to raise the prices at will anyway.
After seeing a documentary about the effluent, sewage filled water being used for irrigating food crops in countries like Chile, we try to limit our produce to grown in the USA…and we buy local when we can find it.
We eat mostly organic and there really IS a difference in the taste.
It’s also wise not to eat beef that was raised on hormones and antibiotics.
In countries like Argentina, children began going through puberty before the age of 5 (as far back as the 1960s…and practices have not changed to correct the problem)…and they found out it was being caused by the hormones fed to the beef that the children were being fed. It even happened here In Phoenix AZ a few years ago…and a 2 yr old girl started puberty.

You are what you eat!

Thanks for your comments. I think a lot of consumers are interested in where their food comes from.

If you want to hear some interesting stuff about our food supply, get your hands on a copy of Dr. David Friedmans cd entitled “America`s Unbalanced Diet”. It will blow your mind. Things like No useable calcium in milk, obesity rate increase on diet drinks, pills only 10% efficient? Check it out! chews4health.com/smart4life
