mypyramid for preschoolersThe U.S. Department of Agriculture has released a new food pyramid just for preschoolers. The new pyramid offers help for parents who are trying to teach their youngsters to eat right.
  • Complete a growth chart for your child.
  • Help your child develop healthy eating habits.
  • Get advice for helping picky eaters try new foods.
  • Tips for adding physical activity to your preschooler’s day.
  • Learn how to follow food safety rules.
The new pyramid is designed for children age two to five and should be very helpful for parents. The preschool age is a great time to instill healthy eating habits in your kids because you are the most important influence they have at that age.

This is great information. So often parents don’t understand the necessity to really instill healthy eating patterns in their children at that age. I have watched people feed their children nothing but bacon in restaurants or let them sip off their diet cokes. I don’t think it is intentional, but there is a reason why we have an obesity problem in this country.
