Sunday July 20, 2008
You probably know that you need to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day, but do you know how big each of those servings are? A reader asks about the size of a serving of fruits or vegetables.

I know we don’t get enough fruits and veggies every day. That is why I love to take my Mona Vie. Since I’ve been taking it, I have felt great. And I know that I’m getting a full spectrum of quality nutrition.
Eat the real thing… grow your own veggies!

For both of my girls (8 & 13) I fix an afternoon snack of fruit and yogurt, killing two birds with one stone. Favorites are a sliced apple with vanilla yogurt and strawberry yogurt with a sliced banana stirred in. It’s so much better for them than chips, cookies, or any other high-sugar or processed snack.
I find that people often get confused about what a “serving size” is. Serving sizes are regulated for packaged foods so that people can compare nutrition facts between similar types of food. This is supposed to help people make more informed decisions about the foods they eat. Thank you for posting the topic.
