Do You Eat Like a Man or a Woman?
Research studies show how men and women tend to prefer different foods and flavors. I was going to go into detail on how men and women eat differently, but I thought it would be much more fun to try a little project with you readers and giving away the research results would spoil the fun.
So what do you say? Let's put the studies to the test with a completely unscientific, but fun quiz that will tell you if you eat more like a man or more like a woman.
After you take the quiz, come back and answer the poll below or vote in the poll on my About Nutrition Forum
Poll: Do you eat more like a man or more like a woman?
- Like a man and I am a man
- Like a man, but I am a woman
- Like a woman and I am a woman
- Like a woman, but I am a man

I found the test somehow biased against men who have a healthy lifestyle because the kind of dieting choices they make are being considered as a woman’s trait.
Agree with the female bias due to healthy choices. They are pretty easily identifiable choices as well, Beef versus chicken, frozen carrots versus frozen pizza….a much better approach would have been to have 5 points for each question, of a wider variety. The only cartegory I saw was healthy or non, with some neutral choices.
Obviously anyone who chooses frozen carrots over frozen pizza would be considered more femenine because of the reduced portions and lack of heartiness. It’s obviously ingrained in our culture for females to eat less and be petite while males should ‘beef up’ and be larger strong counterparts…
Obviously females would need to eat completely differently than males anyways…ie more iron, calcium, etc…
thats a pretty weak test. i’m a vegetarian guy, I watch my caloric and nutrient intake – and your test is about as general as it can get.
Here’s an idea: there is as much (if not more) difference within each sex than between them. I know women who, according to this, “eat like men”, and men who “eat like women”. What rubbish. People eat like people.
Most of these studies pretend to be conclusive when their differences are well within the margin of error. Many studies about gender differences typically fail to take into account other factors, such as age, race, geographic location, etc.
Also, heavily-ingrained cultural biases influence many behavior trends. Remember: Correlation does not equal causation.
Cute! But where are the vegeterian/healthy options? Also, granted your survey is unscientific and mostly for fun
but … seriously, cultural differences go a long way to account for taste.
I’m a South Asian woman and I know I speak for many who come from temperate climates – we’ll take jalepenos and chipotle over bland or sweet food a lot of the time. And in some countries, neither brussel sprouts (ugh) nor asparagus would be considered options ;D
