Sunday January 6, 2008
fruits and vegetablesNutrition experts tell you that you need to eat five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables every day. You may already know that a lot of people don't even get five servings every day.

Since this is a common problem, I decided to come up with a few tips for getting more fruits and vegetables into your diet. If you have any great ideas for getting your five to nine per day, leave a comment to tell me what they are.

My answer is VITALAGY a broad spectrum of whole fruit and juice extracts with real and measurable phytonutrients and anti-oxidants in every serving!
Whole Fruits (purees, juices & juice concentrates) are blended together to give a broad spectrum of phytonutrients, and a natural infusion of strong anti-oxidants from Polyphenols, Proanthocyanidins and Alpha Lipoic Acid.

When I get home from shopping on grocery day, I take a few extra minutes to wash, chop (if needed), and bag fruit and veggies into serving size bundles. Then I store them in a “snack” basket in the fridge. Convenient for those on-the-go snacks!Favorite options in my house include: grapes, apples, bananas, oranges, kiwi, pears, berries (in season), plums, peaches, celery, carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, bell pepper, and sugar snap peas. Tip #1: don’t cut a fruit or vegetable if you don’t have to. Tip #2: don’t store bananas with other fruit… it causes the bananas to age faster.

More Vegetable & Fruits

A power juicer can be a boost to adding more fruits, berries, & veggies. The juice we know. Lots of tasty combinations here.

However, the plus benefit is the puried Pulp. Bagged and frozen it makes great additions to baked or broiled meats, meatloafs, jellos, salad toppings, casseroles, etc. All things you might never otherwise do.

I always visit my local farm markets to get the in season fruits and vegetables. If you show up in the morning the fruits and veggies are usually just picked and they last a lot longer in the fridge. I also buy from farmers in bulk and freeze it so I can have some for in the winter. Support your local farm markets.

I always take apple slices, carrot sticks or celery sticks when I run errands. I know I like snacking in the car so I plan for a healthy one! I also take fruit and veggie snacks in a ziplock for the kids when I pick them up from school along with a water bottle too!

(6) Gert Hough - Lover of food that help burn fat says:

This is just so true to what I have been telling people at home – keep it simple – hide the cookies and show the fruits and veggies!

And you should take them to work as well – I will take this into account when I make my DVD about changing a lifestyle.

Best of luck everyone that’s on a diet – I am going to shed 15 kilos in 2008!

I love to make smoothies with banana juice, frozen blueberries and SPINACH! Yes, you read correctly. You can’t even tell it’s in there. I do mix fresh spinach into my salads and I like it cooked too. But for those who don’t care to eat it, this is a great way to benefit from the tremendous nutritional value of this green food.

The important thing to remember is the fresh part of fruits and vegatable. You need to buy quality to get the nutrients without the chemicals!

Dr. Bob, I agree with you totally on the Juice Plus+®, we take both the orchard and the garden.

(11) Ed Garsia says:

I agree with Dr. Bob S., Jim and Kenda.
The independent scientific research behind Juice Plus+®, validates it as the next best thing to fruits and vegetables.
Folks need to understand that hardly anyone gets the recommended amount on a daily basis. That’s why there’s Juice Plus+®, as it’s the ideal way to bridge the gap between what you do get and what you can’t or won’t get. It’s not a complete replacement for fruits and vegetables.
