If it is not your policy to ensure that the author of your column includes pertinent references (e.g., it has been shown …. must cite references on the subject, both pro and con), then please change your policy immediately. Lacking such a policy, please unsubscribe my email address and name from your list of subscribers. We “sap citizens” have for too long now been “assaulted” with opinion not based on any evidence: It is time to stop the nonsense!

The instructions for unsubscribing from our newsletters is included at the bottom of each issue. As far as references, the high-fiber article I wrote that is described by this blog post has four references and medical review.

Thanks for writing,

Shereen

Hi,
It sounds like the person who wrote earlier regarding references may be misinformed somehow. Any doctor will tell you that a high fiber diet is a great way to live.I venture to say that almost all high fiber foods have much more nutritional ingredients than just fiber. I have doen a lot of research on healthy eating, so I do not need anymore references, however viewers need only look at the food facts on packages of food and look food up o line.
Keep up the good work, because I enjoy your columns.

It is very important to get enough fiber, and the article was great! The discussion point that is seldom addressed is to how to prepare the food, especially the beans.

Any type of dried bean (or oats for that matter) should be soaked the night before cooking. This aids not only in the preparation, but in the proper digestion and nutrient absorption!
