April is Soy Month

Saturday April 21, 2007
Studies show that the protein in soy can help lower LDL cholesterol levels, which is good for your heart. In fact, soy has a double heart-healthy benefit, because soy doesn't contain any saturated fat. The American Heart Association suggests using soy as a substitute for red meat to lower your risk of heart disease.

That is great information, but what do you do with soy and how do you get soy into your diet? Here are some great ways to get soy in your diet:

  • Pour soy milk on your whole grain cereal for breakfast.
  • Slice soy into chunks and stir fry in peanut oil and terriyaki sauce. Add vegetables and cook until they are just tender.
  • Snack on soy nuts instead of candy.
