The food advice isn’t very good. Basically, it can be simplified as don’t eat so early before or so much that you throw up or feel nautious at the level of work you’re going to do. Heavy works makes you puke, don’t eat before heavy work.

Low blood sugar doesn’t matter if you have adequate stores of glycogen in the muscles and fat levels for energy (which most do, being fat). Obviously you don’t do anything too strenuous or dangerous until you perk up, which light exercise does.
