l will be starting soon and that means many of us will pack school lunches for our kids. Our denistry guide, Tammy Davenport has some great tips for packing healthy school lunches that are good for dental health. Good Nutrition is Essential to Good Oral Health

The lunches at our middle and high school are generally what you will find in any fast food restaurant (e.g., burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza, fries, etc). The junk food “crowds out” many of the healthy choices the school may otherwise offer. One way to handle this situation is to ensure that breakfast and dinner are nutritious and have proper vitamin and mineral supplementation. Then, in our case, we “negotiate” with our teenagers to choose one healthy school lunch side item each day, like a cup of soup or a small salad. They say they do but I remember at their age, junk food always won out.
