Using the USDA Nutrient Database
Monday July 3, 2006
The USDA has an excellent and easy to use program to help you determine the nutritional value of the foods you eat. The program is free, can be used online or downloaded to your computer or PDA. Even though it is easy to use, a little extra help never hurts so I wrote up a tutorial on how to use the USDA Nutrient Database.

This looks to be a helpful tool. Rather than the amount of a nutrient (e.g., mcg) I find the percent of the daily recommend allowance much more useful. Percent relates the amount of the nutrient in a certain food to the total that should be consumed. This tells a person if they have enough of the nutrient. I did not see percent in the tool. Did I miss it?
This tool does not include that component. Sounds like a good project for someone…
