Obesity and Breast Cancer Risk

A recent study of more than 44,000 shows that women who gain weight as adults have a higher risk of breast cancer. In fact, the more weight a woman gained the more her risk for breast cancer increased. While breast cancer has a genetic component, it is becoming more obvious that obesity increases breast cancer risk. One way to watch your weight is to add more fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Not only are fresh fruits and vegetables lower in calories, they are high in anti-oxidants and phytochemicals that may decrease the risks of certain cancers and chronic diseases.
Breast cancer isn't the only disease that is linked with obesity. Diseases that kill both men and women like diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other cancers such as colon cancer, endometrial cancer and kidney cancer are have higher risks associated with obesity.
