School Lunches and Junk Food

Tuesday October 11, 2005
Good nutrition is important for learning and even good behavior in school. For students to get the most out of their school days, they need to start each day with breakfast. During the day, students need to eat a healthy school lunch, and stay away from junk foods and high calorie snacks.

Some schools are even removing the junk food and sodas from the vending machines. Proponents say this helps students make healthier snack and beverage choices, critics tell us that removing junk food choices will reduce much needed school revenue and that students have the right to make any food choices they want.

Nutrition Poll: What do you think about junk food in schools? Should schools remove the junk food from their vending machines?

1) Yes, junk food is hurting our kids.

2) No, the schools need the revenue.

the poor nutrition starts at home and in day cares.if they started eating healthy from birth junk wouldnt be so appealling in later years. the kids of today dont know any better and wont try real food because they dont know what it is, chicken nuggetts hot dogs, lunch meat french fries, is all they know some one needs to crack down on day cares also.
